What a great gathering!!!
Dear friends,
We are please to tell you that about 40 alumni and Nanda friends from San Diego and LA area came together on 12/08/2001 in San Diego to meet President Jiang, Prof. Liu and Prof. Gao. We had a casual gathering at Yu and Lingxia house in the afternoon and dinner party at the famous Jasmine Chinese restaurant. During the afternoon gathering, President Jiang gave us a very detailed and exciting but well organized talk on recent development of Nanjing University and invited us to attend the ceremony for Nanda 100th birthday next year. We aslo watched the KPST￡-66 Face￡-to￡-Face program in which President Jiang was interviewed. All of us got very excited by the news. At the dinner party, President Jiang was interviewed by Li Damin, a journalist from the Chinese Newspaper world Daily News? Prof. Gao gave us a rather detailed speech about the plan for the 100th ceremony next year. During the gathering and at the dinner party, we took lots of pictures with the president and the delegation. As of now, Yu Zhang, Yuan Gao and Lingxia will organize activities in the LA and SD alumni branch. We would like to invite any of you to join in if interested. We would also like to propose regular gatherings in the future and love to see you volunteer to host the parties. Please take these opportunities to meet friends and demonstrate leadership. We are also thinking about forming a committee for some big events like this one.
As some of you might know, a group of people made lots of efforts in the last three years to finally set up the Nanjing University Friendship Foundation to which your donation is TAX deductible with a receipt. Many ideas are being proposed to raise fund for this foundation. Now it is time to operate this foundation!!! With sufficient fund in the future, many interesting and good things can happen.
